Does students’ awareness of school-track-related stereotypes exacerbate inequalities in education?
L. Bardach, C. Neuendorf, et al.
This study explores the impact of stereotype awareness on educational inequalities among German secondary school students. Conducted by researchers Lisa Bardach, Claudia Neuendorf, Kou Murayama, Thorsten Fahrbach, Michel Knigge, Benjamin Nagengast, and Ulrich Trautwein, the findings reveal that lower-track students are more aware of negative stereotypes, which may influence their engagement and self-concept, but the relation to academic achievement is not straightforward.
