This study investigates Korean artists' perceptions of blockchain's potential to revolutionize the music industry by offering new revenue streams through disintermediation of the royalty distribution system and the Non-fungible Token (NFT) market. Based on social representation theory and interviews, the study reveals ambivalent perceptions – artists hope for new possibilities but also recognize the impracticality of immediate widespread blockchain adoption. The study offers implications for the sustainable implementation of blockchain technology in the music industry.
