This study investigated the impact of ketogenic and vegan diets on human immunity, metabolism, and the gut microbiome. A highly controlled crossover study involving 20 participants sequentially consumed each diet for two weeks. Multi-omics analysis revealed striking remodeling of host immunity and the microbiome, with divergent effects between the diets. Ketogenic diets enhanced adaptive immunity, while vegan diets increased innate immunity. The ketogenic diet had a broader impact on the proteome and microbiome, while both diets significantly altered host metabolism. These findings suggest diet's potential as a therapeutic tool for disease prevention and treatment.
