Abstract
This study investigates the impact of digital infrastructure construction on green economic transformation in Chinese cities. Utilizing the Broadband China policy as a quasi-natural experiment and a staggered difference-in-difference (DID) model with panel data from 271 Chinese cities (2003-2019), the authors find that digital infrastructure significantly enhances green economic performance. This effect is robust across various tests. Heterogeneity analysis reveals greater benefits in eastern and economically developed cities, primarily through improved energy efficiency, digital industrialization, and green technology innovation.
