Abstract
This study investigates the digital transformation strategies of Chinese high-tech manufacturing companies, focusing on how digital technologies interact with legacy technologies. Four digital technology strategies are identified: searching, enhancing, grafting, and integrating. Using fuzzy qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) on data from 76 companies, the study examines the influence of technology distance, technical search type, and leadership perceptions on strategy adoption. Results show that the choice of strategy is contingent on these factors, offering valuable insights for managers seeking effective digital transformation.
