Abstract
This study examines the gender-state dynamics in China using a bottom-up approach via an online survey. Four indicators (male priority, child suffering, gender ideology, marriage and fertility) formed a gender egalitarianism scale, measuring youth attitudes and exploring psycho-political antecedents (system justification theory, national identification, life satisfaction). Findings reveal a close link between family and nation construction, offering insights into gender equality challenges and a refined measurement instrument for future research.
