Future wireless systems will likely use high-frequency terahertz bands and interconnected smart devices (Internet of Things). This requires antennas mountable on nonplanar objects, producing highly directional beams. This study investigates conformal terahertz leaky-wave antennas, revealing behaviors dictated by geometrical parameters and wavelength. Simple models describing the physics are developed and experimentally verified. Data transmission using a conformal terahertz antenna generating multiple high-gain beams with low bit error rates is demonstrated, improving terahertz wireless link coverage.
