This paper presents a photonics-assisted joint radar, wireless communications, and spectrum sensing (JRCSS) system for 6G. The system integrates these functions using a shared architecture and hardware, achieving high-accuracy radar ranging and imaging (±4 cm error, 25 × 24.7 mm resolution), high-data-rate wireless communications (2 Gbaud), and wideband spectrum sensing (±10 MHz error in 6 GHz bandwidth) simultaneously. Microwave photonics overcomes limitations of electronic solutions, enabling this multi-functionality with increased spectral efficiency and reduced cost.
