Confidence control for efficient behaviour in dynamic environments

This research, conducted by Tarryn Balsdon and Marios G. Philiastides, proposes a novel extension of sequential sampling models in which confidence is used online to regulate how much and how well evidence is accumulated. Tested in a dynamic sensory environment and linked to EEG signatures, the model explains human behaviour better than traditional models and shows that stronger EEG-derived confidence control predicts faster, more accurate decisions.
