This research introduces a nano-pathogenoid (NPN) system that overcomes biological barriers in nano-mediated drug delivery, enhancing the efficacy of photothermal therapy (PTT). NPNs, cloaked in bacteria-secreted outer membrane vesicles, are internalized by neutrophils, which migrate to inflamed tumors. NPNs are released from neutrophils in response to inflammatory stimuli and taken up by tumor cells, leading to complete tumor eradication in mice when combined with PTT and cisplatin.
