Abstract
Rapid urbanization has reshaped the peripheries of China’s major cities, giving rise to semi-urban Desakota regions. This study identifies and evaluates the key influencing factors of housing construction technology in Chinese Desakotas to support sustainable and scalable development. From literature review and expert input, six primary and twenty secondary factors were shortlisted and surveyed among 120 respondents. Statistical analysis ranks "Architectural and engineering mechanical factors" as the top primary factor, while "Cost, financial and economic evaluation" and "Analysis of the impact of the natural environment on buildings" tie as top secondary factors. The study contributes the first structured identification and ranking of these factors for China’s Desakota rural–town communities, offering guidance to stakeholders for prioritizing resources and strategies aligned with rapid urban development and sustainability.
