This paper assesses the capacity for public health education and training in India. A desk review of 59 institutions and 13 in-depth interviews with faculty were conducted. Key factors impacting public health programs included collaborations, mentorship, curriculum standardization, tuition and funding, and student demand. Collaborations and mentorship were highly valued but varied in quality. Curricula lacked standardization but showed flexibility and innovation. Public sector programs were affordable, but career opportunities need further development.
