This article analyzes attitudes towards the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina, identifying correlations to define styles of thought. Two surveys (5990 participants) assessed attitudes, beliefs, fears, and expectations. Three equally distributed styles emerged: open-to-expertise (natural origin belief), nihilist (accidental lab leak belief), and self-expertise-only (intentional release belief). Each style showed distinct positions on vaccines, science, and the pandemic, reflecting an ideological matrix. A cultural theory of expertise is proposed to explain how perceptions of expertise shape thoughts and opinions.
