Abstract
This study investigates the impact of national culture on sustainability practice reporting in energy industries and explores the moderating effect of sustainability committees on the relationship between national culture and sustainability reporting. Using a decade-long sample (2010–2019) from 18 countries and six cultural dimensions (power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, long-term orientation, and indulgence), the study finds a positive relationship between a higher composite cultural index score and sustainability reporting. A sustainability committee moderates this relationship, suggesting it helps align reporting with cultural context. Implications for firms and policymakers are discussed.
