Wiki Loves Earth is an international photography competition aimed at promoting natural heritage sites around the world through Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.
📖 About Wiki Loves Earth 2025 in Nigeria
Wiki Loves Earth 2025 marks the fifth time Nigeria will participate in this contest, which runs from June 1 to July 31, 2025. In previous editions, over 1,000 quality images were uploaded by participants in Nigeria.
Everyone is welcome to get involved, whether as a participant (photographer), organizational volunteer, or both. Join us to contribute free-licensed images of natural heritage sites in Nigeria.

Additional Categories:
- Prizes will be awarded to the best two images from each participating fan club and hub.
- Prizes will be awarded to the highest number of contributions from each participating fan club and hub.
- Top 10 contributors (by the number of photographs) will be rewarded with the WLE T-shirt.
✅ Requirements
Participants must meet the following requirements:
- All entries must be your own work; do not manipulate original images, and ensure there are no visible watermarks.
- Photos must be uploaded between June 1 and July 31, 2025.
- Photos must be licensed under the CC BY-SA license.
- Participants must have an active email account for communication purposes.
- Captions and descriptions are required for all submissions.
- Add categories to your pictures to make them easier to find.
- Avoid uploading duplicate images.
📅 Application Date and Process
The jury will determine the winners of the local and international contest based on the following criteria (in no particular order):
- Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective, etc.)
- Originality
- Usefulness of the image for Wikipedia
Images that reach a top ranking in the international finale will typically fulfill the technical criteria of the Featured Image process on Wikimedia Commons.

- Name your photos appropriately.
- Use the Upload Button at the top or click here to upload images.
- Share your upload success on social media using hashtags: #WLENG #WLE2025.
