✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the TWAS-Mohammad A. Hamdan Award, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • The award recognizes outstanding mathematical work in pure or applied mathematics, probability, or statistics.
  • Candidates must be nationals of an African or Arab country and have been living and working there for at least two years immediately prior to their nomination.
  • TWAS Fellows are not eligible.
  • Individuals who have previously won a TWAS-named Award are not eligible for awards named after a different TWAS Fellow.
  • Self-nominations and nominations from jury members will not be considered.

📋 Application Process

A nomination is considered complete only if it includes the following:

  1. Nominator Contact Details: Information about the person submitting the nomination.
  2. Nominee Contact Details: General information about the nominee, including the country where they have been living and working for the past two years.
  3. Privacy Authorization: Authorization from the nominee to process their personal data, as per Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003. This form must be downloaded, filled, signed, and uploaded via the online platform.
  4. Suggested Citation: A 15-20 word summary highlighting the nominee's scientific achievements in mathematical sciences.
  5. Supporting Statement: A detailed explanation of the nominee's work, its significance, and its scientific impact (max 10,000 characters).
  6. Future Activities: A forward-looking project outlining the nominee's planned future activities (max 10,000 characters).
  7. Time Spent Abroad: A clear account of any time spent abroad by the nominee in the past two years.
  8. PhD Information: Details about the nominee's PhD subject area, year, and awarding institution.
  9. Memberships: Brief information on memberships in academies and societies.
  10. Awards and Honors: Brief information on awards and honors received.
  11. Publications: A list of the 10 most significant publications in an internationally acceptable format.
  12. CV and Full Publication List: The nominee's brief CV and complete list of publications must be uploaded separately.
