MTN Foundation/Muson Music Scholarship Program

The Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), in collaboration with the MTN Foundation (MTNF), announces the entrance examinations for the 20th set of the MTN/MUSON Diploma Course in Music for the 2025/2026 academic year.

🎼 About the Program

The MUSON Diploma School of Music is staffed and equipped to meet international standards in music education. The program offers a 2-year full-time diploma course with advanced training in music.

Majors Offered:

• Piano
• Organ
• Violin
• Viola
• Cello
• Double Bass
• Flute
• Clarinet
• Saxophone
• Trumpet
• Trombone
• Percussion
• Classical Guitar
• Voice

Additional Requirements:

• Students must take 2 terms of an instrument minor outside their major instrumental family.
• Voice students must pass Grade 2 piano.
• Instrumentalists must pass vocal techniques.
• All students must participate in the choir.
• String majors are required to join the orchestra.
• Wind and percussion majors must join the band.

• Entrance Examinations:
  • Written Examination in Music Theory
    • Date: September 2, 2025
    • Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Audition on a Major Instrument or Voice
    • Date: September 3–5, 2025
    • Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Academic Requirements:

• General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Ordinary Level with credits in five (5) subjects, including English Language, OR
• Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with a credit in English Language.
• The 5 credits must be obtained in no more than two sittings before admission to the diploma course.

Music Requirements:

• Practical: Grade 5 or higher pass certificate from the MUSON School of Music or any other recognized music examining body.
• Theory: Grade 5 or higher pass certificate from the MUSON School of Music or any other recognized music examining body.

Note:

• Applicants with outstanding practical ability but deficient in theory requirements may be admitted. These students must take a remedial theory course and pass the minimum requirements in their first year.
