π About The Competition
The International Environmental Agreements (IEA) Database Project is the most comprehensive, reliable, and detailed repository of International Environmental Agreements. Initiated in 2002 by Professor Ronald Mitchell (University of Oregon) and now maintained at UniversitΓ© Laval, it is widely used by policymakers and researchers around the world.

β Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the competition, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Papers must be authored by individuals who were students (from undergraduate to PhD candidates) in 2025.
- Coauthored papers are allowed, provided the first author is a student.
- Eligible submissions include:
- Term papers
- Master's theses
- Thesis chapters
- Side projects
- Papers completed before February 1, 2025, are not eligible.
- Papers may be published or unpublished. Authors retain full copyright over their submissions.
- Papers must have a word count between 5,000 and 12,000 words, including references. Supplementary material (e.g., appendices or coding scripts) exceeding the word limit is allowed.
- Papers written in languages other than English must be accompanied by an English translation.
- Submissions will be evaluated based on:
- Originality
- Rigor
- Integrity
- Depth
