GHC Africa Leadership Accelerator
The GHC Africa Leadership Accelerator is a 9-month hybrid program designed to strengthen the leadership and management skills of early to mid-career health professionals aged 21-35, working across Sub-Saharan Africa.
π About the Program
The Africa Leadership Accelerator Fellowship is tailored for high-potential, early-career public health leaders committed to personal and professional development. The program welcomes applicants from diverse sectors, including:
- Local health ministries or state agencies
- Government agencies
- Universities
- Community-based and nongovernmental organizations
- Private sector employers
Program Components
The program adopts a hybrid learning approach, combining virtual and in-person learning opportunities. The program is completely free for fellows, covering:
- All virtual programming
- Travel to retreat locations
- Lodging costs
- Meals for in-person retreats
Fellows are expected to dedicate 6-8 hours per month to the program. Upon completion, fellows join GHC's global network of 1,200+ alumni and benefit from ongoing leadership development opportunities.

β Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the program, applicants must:
- Be aged 21-35 by September 1, 2024.
- Be a citizen of Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia.
- Be currently employed full-time in a non-clinical public health role for at least six months at the time of application.
- Be employed by a public health organization operating in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, or Zambia, with written support from the employer for program participation.
- There are no specific education or training requirements for eligibility.

Nomination
Applicants must be nominated by one of the following:
- A representative from their organization (e.g., HR professional, Executive Director, Program Manager)
- Their manager or supervisor
- A colleague or peer (current or previous employer)
- A GHC alumni
- A GHC fellow
- Other
Steps After Nomination
- Application Portal Access: Nominees will receive an email with a link to the application portal and detailed instructions within 3-5 business days of nomination form submission.

- Letter of Recommendation: A letter from the applicant's supervisor is required.
