📖 About Claremont Institute Speechwriters Fellowship
Founded in 2017, the Claremont Institute Speechwriters Fellowship combines education in the principles of the American Founding with a study of modern political speech craft. Fellows meet over the Columbus Day weekend to discuss and debate these important ideas.
Upon acceptance into the program, fellows will receive:
- A reading packet with designated primary texts.
- Assignments (when applicable) for each course.

- Engage in debates on themes such as:
- Natural law
- Equality
- Identity
- The administrative state
✅ Eligibility Criteria
The fellowship is open to:
- Speechwriters currently serving in the executive or legislative branches of the federal or state governments.
- Speechwriters working in the private, non-profit, or public sectors.
- Aspiring speechwriters who are strong writers and eager to learn the art of speech craft.

- A writing sample (published or unpublished op-ed)
