Abstract
This study explores the characteristics of Workplace-based Knowledge Exchange Programmes (WKEPs) in the UK health and care sector through a scoping review and mapping exercise. 147 academic articles (2010-2022) and 74 websites (2020-2022) were analyzed. WKEPs involved in-person workplace visits and lasted from one day to five years, mostly unidirectional. Common aims included network building, improved understanding of other fields, and knowledge transfer. A framework categorizing WKEPs into structures, processes, and outcomes is proposed, along with recommendations for standardized reporting and an online repository to improve access and understanding of WKEPs.
