Abstract
This study examines human behavior during France's 2020 COVID-19 lockdown using an online survey of over 12,000 individuals. The results reveal that approximately 10% of participants changed residences just before the lockdown, and three distinct behavioral profiles emerged. Lockdown compliance was lower among those with unfavorable living environments (linked to socioeconomic inequality, fear, and distrust in government) and those who perceived the risk as low due to others' compliance. The study recommends clear government communication to build trust, reduce fear, and promote cooperative behavior in future crises.
