Abstract
This study utilizes ground- and drone-based measurements to compare the gas and particulate chemistry of magmatic and lava-seawater interaction (laze) plumes from the 2018 Kīlauea eruption. The magmatic plume shows abundant volatile metals and metalloids, while the laze plume is enriched in copper and seawater components. Speciation modeling highlights the role of sulfur and chloride ligands in metal degassing.
