Abstract
This study investigates the evolution of nationalistic discourses on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic, analyzing 2.65 million tweets from 2020 to 2022. Using a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative (sentiment/emotion analysis, topic modeling, co-occurrence network analysis) and qualitative (Evolving Discourse Framework Analysis) techniques, the study identifies three frames within the nationalist discourse: ‘feeling,’ ‘identity,’ and ‘action.’ Findings reveal a rising "feeling" frame, a weakening "identity" frame, and a relatively consistent "action" frame, illustrating the dynamic interplay of emotions, identity, and actions in shaping online nationalist narratives.
