Abstract
This paper reports a germanium atom transfer reaction using a germanium analogue of the phenyl anion. The reaction produces a germanium-substituted benzene and a transferable germanium atom, demonstrated by the formation of germanium-doped molecules. Computational studies reveal an aromatic-to-aromatic nuclear germanium replacement reaction, a novel pathway further investigated through reactions with silicon species.
