This study investigates the long-term effects of LPS-induced gestational inflammation on offspring health in adulthood. Pregnant C57BL/6J mice received LPS on gestational day 10.5. Maternal plasma metabolomics revealed oxidative stress. Offspring were fed a control diet until weaning, then half received a western-style diet (WSD) from 12-24 weeks. LPS exposure combined with WSD led to hyperphagia and increased body weight and fat mass in female offspring, along with metabolic changes. The study suggests altered food intake behavior due to hypothalamic signaling dysregulation.
