Abstract
This paper explores the impact of behavioral addictions (BAs) on the developing child brain. While extended screen time and internet usage are linked to attention problems and social difficulties, research on the effects of BAs on child development is mixed. The paper examines the potential harm of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) from smartphones, considering the developing brain's vulnerability. While adolescent studies show links between digital technology and reduced grey matter density, research on younger children is still in its early stages. The paper highlights the need for further research using robust methodologies, considering individual differences and co-occurring factors, and emphasizes the importance of parental monitoring and healthy digital habits.
