Abstract

This study examined multimorbidities to identify Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) subtypes with distinct genetic and non-genetic factors. Using dynamic Bayesian network approaches on 1.2 million participants from the UK, Finland, and Spain, seven clusters of disease-burden trajectories were identified. These clusters showed unique protective and risk-factor profiles, age-specific clinical courses driven by inflammatory processes, and a comprehensive map of heritability and genetic correlations. The findings can guide personalized MDD treatments.
