Abstract
Neuroscience research in Africa is limited. This study analyzes neuroscience publications affiliated with African institutions between 1996 and 2017 from PubMed. Of 12,326 publications, 2,519 clearly showed African-led research, averaging 5 per country annually. The analysis examines journals, funders, international collaborations, and research techniques, comparing African data with that from the UK, USA, Australia, Japan, and Brazil. The dataset provides insights into African neuroscience research within a global context.
