Abstract

This paper reports the design and validation of a turn-on chemiluminescence probe, ADLumin-1, for amyloid beta (Aβ) species. The probe efficiently crosses the blood-brain barrier and provides excellent contrast for Aβ plaques and cerebral amyloid angiopathy in vivo. Signal amplification is further achieved using chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (DAS-CRET) with two non-conjugated probes. The study suggests this strategy could be extended to other aggregating-prone proteins.
