Abstract
This study evaluates the SENSE-TRI program's effectiveness in improving grade 3 learners' fundamental literacy skills in insurgency-affected Nigerian states during the COVID-19 lockdown. A quasi-experimental design compared 400 learners (200 in the treatment group, 200 in the comparison group) using the abbreviated Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA). Tobit regression models revealed statistically significant literacy improvements across all EGRA parameters in the treatment group, exceeding baseline values, demonstrating the program's effectiveness even in challenging circumstances.
