Curiosity meets the brain: using a modified blurred-picture paradigm and fNIRS in 15 participants, this study found orbitofrontal cortex hemodynamic changes—greater activity when perceptual uncertainty was resolved (matching vs. non-matching). The findings confirm neural pathways of curiosity while noting fNIRS’s spatial limitations.
