This research employed a well-being index to gauge the impact of unconditional cash transfers on the socioeconomics of recipients in Pakistan using a quasi-experimental design and three rounds of the BISP impact assessment survey (2011, 2016, and 2019). Findings indicate a limited effect on altering the well-being of beneficiaries, attributed to factors like inflation, unemployment, and payment challenges. The study suggests reconsidering the substantial investment in BISP and channeling resources toward income generation and asset development.
