Abstract
This meta-analysis aimed to determine the global pooled prevalence of suicide thoughts and attempts in the transgender population. A comprehensive search of international databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, PsycINFO, CINAHL) from January 1990 to December 2022 yielded 65 studies. The pooled prevalence of suicidal thoughts was 39% (past month), 45% (past year), and 50% (lifetime). The pooled prevalence of suicide attempts was 16% (past month), 11% (past year), and 29% (lifetime). The high prevalence highlights the urgent need for suicide prevention and mental health promotion within the transgender community.
