Abstract
This research paper investigates the "fatigue illusion," proposing that perceived fatigue occurs at proportional milestones during a task, regardless of its duration, intensity, or nature (physical or cognitive). Five studies explored this hypothesis, based on Langer's mind/body unity theory, and examined whether mindfulness can manipulate fatigue perception. Findings suggest the existence of a fatigue illusion with consistent milestone perceptions, and that Langerian mindfulness techniques offer control over fatigue's timing, intensity, and experience.
