Abstract

This preregistered two-wave cross-national study (N = 1040) investigated the impact of the 2022/2023 energy crisis on citizens' climate-relevant judgments and decisions in Germany and Switzerland. Energy-efficiency preferences were affected by crisis salience and price signals, while changes in energy literacy depended on participants' numerical abilities. Support for renewable energy policies remained stable despite shifts in public attention.
