Abstract
The concept of "interaction" is central to Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) debates but lacks clarity and consistency across disciplines. This paper analyzes the diverse meanings of "interaction" in relevant fields, proposing a four-dimensional SMPC model (Subjects, Modes, Purposes, Contexts) to clarify its multifaceted nature. The aim is to foster more productive intra- and interdisciplinary discussions on HMI.
