Abstract
This study investigated the association between whole and refined grain consumption and serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in 756 healthy Finnish adults (aged 53–73). Higher whole grain intake was associated with lower hs-CRP, while higher refined grain intake was linked to higher hs-CRP. However, adjusting for fiber intake from grains attenuated the association with whole grains, suggesting that fiber may explain part of this relationship.
