Abstract
This study analyzes the subtitling of Saudi Arabic slang expressions into English, using the Netflix film "The Book of the Sun" as a corpus. It examines three dimensions of slang: originality, conciseness, and humor, and investigates the subtitling strategies employed. The findings reveal that all slang terms are original, some are concise due to mapping to the *farsala* verb template, and subtitling strategies include generalization, paraphrase, official equivalent, direct translation, and cultural substitution. However, the study concludes that these strategies are ineffective in conveying the full meaning of the slang expressions.
