Abstract

This paper investigates the socio-political factors behind the stigmatization of a religious group in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using Wagner's theory of essentialization and Critical Race Theory, it explores how media representations contributed to the stigmatization and fear within the community, hindering the collective effort to contain the pandemic.
