Social-Media-Based Mental Health Interventions: Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

A preregistered meta-analysis of 17 randomized controlled trials (N=5,624) finds that social-media–based mental health programs modestly reduce anxiety, depression, and stress, with stronger effects when interventions are human-guided, social-oriented, and female-majority.
