Social-Media-Based Mental Health Interventions: Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

This preregistered meta-analysis of 17 rigorous RCTs (total n=5,624) found that social-media-based interventions effectively reduced anxiety, depression, and stress, with stronger effects when programs were human-guided, social-oriented, and had predominantly female participants. Research was conducted by Qiyang Zhang, Zixuan Huang, Yuan Sui, Fu-Hung Lin, Hongjie Guan, Li Li, Ke Wang, and Amanda Neitzel.
