Rivers originating in the Tibetan Plateau are crucial to the population in Asia. This research proposes a model to estimate terrestrial water storage change (TWSC) and characterize catchment memory. Investigating eight basins, the study finds that seasonal catchment memory in precipitation-dominated basins is controlled by precipitation, while in non-precipitation-dominated basins, it's influenced by temperature. Longer influence time corresponds to longer domination time in precipitation-dominated basins. Quantifying catchment memory helps improve seasonal streamflow forecasts and water resource management.
