Abstract
In situ illumination of liquid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) samples is challenging due to the sample's position deep within the spectrometer magnet. This paper introduces NMRtorch, a sample illumination device that uses an LED array positioned at the top of a specialized NMR tube. The tube's wall acts as a light guide, illuminating the sample from the outside. The device's effectiveness is demonstrated through photo-NMR applications, including photoisomerisation, photo-CIDNP, and UV degradation studies.
