This study uses corpus-assisted critical discourse analysis to examine how 5G is portrayed in Chinese and British media. Chinese press presents 5G positively, emphasizing China's advancements and benefits. British press frames 5G as a source of geopolitical tension and scientific uncertainty, using negative language and highlighting conspiracy theories. The study reveals differing "self versus other" representations, with China portrayed positively in Chinese media and negatively in British media, while Britain is presented positively in the British media by attributing negative aspects to China and the US.
