This groundbreaking case series explores the innovative combination of robotic-assisted bronchoscopy and needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy, revealing high-resolution insights into solitary pulmonary nodules. Conducted by a team at the Mayo Clinic, this research confirms the presence of malignancy in all cases, showcasing a potential leap in diagnostic accuracy for pulmonary lesions.

Abstract
Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy (RAB) improves the diagnostic yield of solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). Needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (nCLE) offers high-resolution, in-vivo, real-time tissue assessment. This case series reports the simultaneous use of RAB and nCLE in three patients with SPNs. nCLE detected abnormal patterns suggestive of malignancy in all nodules, confirmed by pathology as lung adenocarcinomas (two patients) and squamous cell carcinoma (one patient). Combining RAB with nCLE may enhance malignant cell differentiation, improve sample adequacy, and increase diagnostic yield during suspicious pulmonary lesion biopsies.
