This study examined the risk and protective factors faced by residents in Miami Gardens, Florida, during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on racial health disparities and Black heterogeneity. Using an online questionnaire (n=83), quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Findings revealed that despite higher adoption of protective measures, Black participants were more susceptible to risk-increasing activities, with higher infection rates among Afro-Caribbeans. Machine learning analysis identified key variables distinguishing Black and non-Black participants. The study highlights the need to investigate underlying factors contributing to health disparities and tailor interventions to address the heterogeneity within the Black community.
