This population-based cohort study (1,875,281 patients with eight common cancers from the SEER database) reveals that while overall cancer-free survival improved from 2004 to 2018, disparities persist. Black patients show the lowest cancer-specific survival (CSS) across several cancers, although they experienced the greatest survival improvement in many cancers from 2009-2018. However, in breast and prostate cancer, their CSS from 2014-2018 remained lower than white patient CSS from 2004-2008, even after adjusting for income, age, and stage. Further research should focus on identifying factors underlying these disparate outcomes.
