China's emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-GHGs) are accelerating, increasing from 5.5 to 221 million tons CO₂-equivalent per year from 1990 to 2019, making China the world's largest emitter of F-GHGs. Projections show a further increase to 506-1356 million tons CO₂-equivalent per year by 2060 without regulation, exceeding projected CO₂ emissions under China's carbon neutrality commitment.
