Abstract
This research introduces a 'wrap and plant' seed treatment platform using biodegradable seed wraps made from banana harvest waste and recycled cardboard to protect crops from soil-borne pathogens. Field trials in Benin demonstrated that these wraps, with or without a low dose of abamectin, effectively controlled yam nematodes, increased yields, and reduced post-harvest losses. This sustainable approach offers a promising solution for enhancing food security in sub-Saharan Africa.
